Craigslist is an American classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, for sale, items wanted, services, community service, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums. It’s become the biggest market for classified ads on the Internet.
Craigslist has not changed its appearance very much since the site was founded.
Project Research Goals and Objectives
Explore how Craigslist can improve functionality while still remaining:
Mostly Free
Craigslist doesn’t run banner ads, and it doesn’t sell user data to third parties. It makes money by charging a small number of users to post ads. For most people, it’s totally free.
Consistent
Craigslist holds onto early 1990s Web values about a platform being truly accessible, open and that doesn’t change its appearance
Anonymous
Users are able to post anonymously. Craigslist sees that policy as providing a form of protection and privacy to their users
